Today`s Headline In Racism: Farmer`s Markets Are Racist

Posted by Label56 in Blog | Politics

Similar to the series we do titled Social Justice  Warriors To The Rescue, this is our Today’s Headline In Racism. This one will address everything racist that white people are accused of. Some past horrific examples that emanate racism include schools serving peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as well as students not making eye contact when speaking to someone.

Today`s story comes from (surprise surprise) two college professors. Pascale Joassart-Marcelli and Fernando J Bosco from San Diego University have made claims in the Just Green Enough anthology that farmer`s markets are “white spaces where the food consumption habits of white people are normalized”. My best guess as to what they mean by this is that white people eating food is racist.

Their opinion that farmer`s markets are racist comes from their own study that found that 44% of the markets in San Diego are located in areas experiencing gentrification. In other words, less than half of the farmers markets being in gentrified areas makes it racist. Thats some nice #LiberalLogic
