Antifa or Anti-Community: Keystone United Vs. Philly Antifa
Antifa or Anti-Community? Article reposted from the Keystone United site here
On Saturday, September 6th, just days after a 9-year-old boy was shot outside the steps of the Tacony library, PhillyAntifa held a protest in this very same spot. Instead of focusing on the pre-existing issues of drugs and gun violence, they disturbed the community to further their own prejudices.
Though only a handful of PhillyAntifa members showed up, they stirred racial tension in an already wounded community. Cops and counter-protesters from the community, including KeystoneUnited members, supporters and many neighbors came out to focus back on the real issues. After about 45 minutes of yelling matches between the two sides, members of KeystoneUnited, supported by the neighborhood, proudly showed PhillyAntifa that they are not welcomed and “escorted” them out of the neighborhood.
On the way back to the rally point many locals of every race and color approached multiple members of KeystoneUnited to talk about their thoughts on the protest. After spending about half an hour talking to the local community the message was clear-“I hope these PhillyAntifa guys stay away from our community and keep their prejudices in their own little suburban towns” was only one of many comments by the locals.
We would like to thank everyone who came out and rallied along side of us, including local residents who did not agree with their message of bigotry that PhillyAntifa brought to the neighborhood. It is truly a great and proud feeling that KeystoneUnited and local residents stood side by side against the bigotry of PhillyAntifa.
