Lyrics- Lions Pride

The Lions Pride cd Stand and Defend is one we just got in stock here and was released by Pure Impact Records. Lions Pride is a new street rock type band from Belgium. It is some good music with equally good lyrics. All the lyrics in the cd also have a personal description as to their meaning and origin. The lyrics to two of the songs are posted below. While we do have this cd in stock it is not on our website yet as we are finishing getting all of the bugs out. Once again, our website is back online and can be viewed in Internet Explorer, etc, but there are still some problems getting it to view in firefox. Anyone interested in a copy can email me at independentminded@label56.com

The first song is titled Self Control. As written in their personal description of the lyrics

Far too many artists whose work I admire passed away due to their addiction. I am not the kind of person to judge or tell a person how to lead his/ her life. Still as far as I am concerned drugs are not glamorous at all. All in life is about balance. A slow suicide is not a path I would recommend. No “high” is as intense as a natural one. This is not a straight edge anthem nor an attempt to preach but a tribute to common sense

I will follow that up with my own personal thoughts. I am not trying to preach to anyone either, but rather see it as a sad commentary on our society when so many people that could contribute in a positive manner to our Folk choose to give themselves over to a controlling substance. I have watched many people from my old neighborhood that I grew up with succumb to addictions. I have seen how it ruins peoples lives, destroys their families and destroys them physically, mentally, and spiritually. There are also people I knew that have died from overdose. I have no pity for these people. They tell you all the way back in grade school that drugs are bad for you. If that is the life you choose than that is your decision. I try and keep a circle of friends that hold themselves to a different standard. Ours is a community of people who reject the self gratification and vices that have ruined so many. What about you?

Self Control
People have a choice in life
Free from any addiction truly is a noble strive
This is a free world, I know and I do accept
But committing crimes in order to score,
Now what do you expect?

Pity? Pity?

Chorus:
Clear head clear mind
In order to be free
Clear head clear mind
I take that liberty!!!

High on crack, joining gangs seems cool
Seems to be standard. even at school
But a dirty needle in my veins surely not my way
As I hope to live yet, yet another day
But a dirty needle in my veins surely not my way
As I hope to live yet, yet another day

Yet another day! Yet another day!
I take that liberty!

Sniff your coke, swallow your pills
On your constant search for cheap thrills
But bear in mind not, not to bother me
As I do not relate and feel no sympathy
But bear in mind not, not to bother me
As I do not relate and feel no sympathy

No sympathy! No sympathy!

Chorus:
Clear head clear mind
In order to be free
Clear head clear mind
I take that liberty!!!

The next lyrics are to the song Celtic Dream. I had planned to post the lyrics also for the song Lies but will do that at a later date. I think the lyrics to this song are a great follow up to Self Control

Harmony was a central goal in Ancient Celtic tradition. To achieve a certain kind of “Harmony” is a universal and timeless wish we still share with our ancestors although morals and codes have changed a lot through the centuries. “Celtic Dream” expresses our longing for a world that seems to have disappeared. Probably a somewhat naive wish as described in the lyrics but one needs to hang on to a dream from time to time…

Celtic Dream
I dream of a better world
Where Tradition and Codes prevail
Where our history is being told
And where crime and cruelty fail

Chorus:
Dream, one needs to hold on to a dream
Hope, for a better place for you and me
Remembering the Ancient Druid`s path, A Celtic Dream
Splendor, nature in full glory like it used to be

I hope for a healthy youth
A place where families do connect
Where Folk are loyal to their roots
And the Elder receive respect

Chorus:
Dream, one needs to hold on to a dream
Hope, for a better place for you and me
Remembering the Ancient Druid`s path, A Celtic Dream
Splendor, nature in full glory like it used to be

Celtic!
Celtic Dream!
Celtic!

Where nature is being preserved
And our children are being taught
Respect for life in a world less perverse
Where true values cannot be bought

Chorus:
Dream, one needs to hold on to a dream
Hope, for a better place for you and me
Remembering the Ancient Druid`s path, A Celtic Dream
Splendor, nature in full glory like it used to be

Celtic!
Celtic Dream!
Celtic!

Wishing for a land of the free
Safe to walk the streets without a gun
Where our tribes live in harmony
And all this injustice is undone

Chorus:
Dream, one needs to hold on to a dream
Hope, for a better place for you and me
Remembering the Ancient Druid`s path, A Celtic Dream
Splendor, nature in full glory like it used to be

Dream!
